"There is a destiny that makes men brothers:

None goes his way alone;
All that we send into the lives of others:

Comes back into our own.”

~Edwin Markham (1852-1940)

Poems by Mildred J. Douglass (1908-1988)

My Sons

As I sit here in the loneliness of the night

Thoughts of you all in my mind take flight

Safe in your home so many miles away

Across your faces I see your smiles softly play

In the quiet of meditation and prayer

My heart warms with love for all of you there

As my thoughts drift back over the years

I think of my many hopes, dreams and fears

The years have a way of passing swiftly by

As we mortals sit and wonder why.
