"There is a destiny that makes men brothers:

None goes his way alone;
All that we send into the lives of others:

Comes back into our own.”

~Edwin Markham (1852-1940)

Poems by Mildred J. Douglass (1908-1988)

Here I Sit...

Here I sit lonely and blue

Because I had no word from you

I looked at my cards of other years

Very few came from you I fear.

Son, when you become old and gray

You reminisce thru out the day

Your mind goes back quite a way

When life was happy and gay.

When you boys ran thru the door

Dirtying many a clean floor

But I was very happy you see

Because I had you all around me.

Years fly by and all things change

Your lives have various range

But I have nothing to say

As I would have it no other way.

But if you get lonely or blue

Just remember I'm always praying for you

That happiness will be your just due

Is your Mother's prayer for you.
